Efficient was the focus of the home My Bigger Half i designed along built seven years back. It is a green home in most ways. But, as efficient once we got, we didn’t think about picking movable walls.

Before I share the movable wall idea, allow me to digress and discuss other eco-friendly homes and home design. The Solar Decathlon competition. Based on the website “The U.S. United states doe Solar Decathlon challenges 20 collegiate teams to development, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are affordable, energy-efficient, and attractive. The winner in the competition is the team that best blends cost-effectiveness, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency.” There is to be enough energy generated with the house to fuel an electric powered car. Student teams are derived from around the globe to participate within this annual event in Washington, DC.

I was thrilled to determine the Solar Decathlon competition around the Mall in Washington, DC, 2009, because that meant I obtained to tour it. I’d seen and enjoyed two entries before that — CU-Boulder and Montreal — coupled with enjoyed their innovations. While I ran across myself around the Mall challenging entries I knew I had been set for a fun time.
